Turtles hold a very special place in our heart here at Taronga as do all of our animals. ⠀ ⠀ We are very excited to share important progress in the Bellinger River Snapping Turtle conservation program. Taronga has been breeding this species since it was almost wiped out by disease in 2015. ⠀ ⠀ Recently 10 of the turtles bred at Taronga were released back into the Bellinger River by our partners at the Office of Environment and Heritage.
