That can be a little difficult. And I feel differently about this one than any other that has gone before. So much so that whilst making it, the outcome of it being released and being heard was an alien concept. It was for me. It was for my wife. They were my working notes for life. My ‘Fortysomething' if you will. And there she is, the woman I share my life with. She is the centre of this. Between ups and downs, downs and ups, sorrows and joys and through 12 years of our life together, these words and music have been born. Relationships of great intimacy teach you. Mine has been schooling me to be a better communicator, to connect more with the many colours that life throws at you and sit with them, observe them. Mine gave me the courage and patience to look under the rocks, where all the little nuances that sit between the black and white are, finding those infinite, iridescent greys. I’m at a natural juncture in my life where you start to take stock and it was by being loved by someone and creating a family together that I realised I needed to do some emotional housekeeping. As someone who has always been on the move, it took some time and fresh thinking to put my foot on the brake; but I’ve found a much deeper sense of peace within this honesty. It came with a feeling of freedom that this didn't need to wind its way directly into my life as a musician. Whilst you’re going through these processes its a great way to find out about……well - the true nature of love. Who’s gonna stick around with you, there, in the dirt while you figure stuff out?
