@katarinawitt was my inspiration to start skating. A little 8 year old boy wanting to be as amazing as this beautiful skater in the Olympics. Calgary was the first time I’d seen figure skating. She was power & grace & beauty on ice. Katarina is as beautiful now as she was back then. A skating icon forever!!! ????❤️

My skating idol growing up. My favourite olympics were 1988 not just battle of the Carmen’s but also Elizabeth Manley nearly taking Katarina Witts Gold and cementing herself in Olympic and Canadian history inspiring & becoming many young women & Young men’s idol as well.❤️

Why would you put “socialism’s prettiest face” in the description? It’s pretty demeaning considering the struggles Katerina went through with the government there. She was a great skater despite the horrid form of government she lived under not because of it.

The beautiful @katarinawitt is a living legend of skating, and although I did not have the opportunity to see her during her competitive career, I was able to see her as a professional and since then I admire and respect her a lot. ????

My idol when I was young. I discovered figure skating watching her on TV in 1982. As a teenager, I woke up at night to watch the competitions live hoping her to win. ♥️⛸️

Love her! What a fierce competitor. She has nerves of steel. Carmen is her most memorable performance, but I loved her “Where Have All the Flowers Gone” in Lillehammer.
