That means the bloc has the third largest population in the world, after only China and India, and is more populous by 180 million than the United States of America. So, how to provide a representative cross-section of such a huge swathe of humanity? The answer, of course, is that you can’t: the depth and intensity of cultural diversity defies such homogenisation.
