You saying my opinion on abortion doesn’t matter because I don’t have a womb is like me telling you your opinion on rape doesn’t matter because you (I’m guessing) don’t have a penis. My body my choice how I want to use it. That’s obviously stupid. “Are you upset for these living children?” Yes, and I work in public service and frequently come into contact with some really screwed up lives and hurt children. However, the fight for the unborn (but LIVING) children is so important because, broken and inadequate as they may be, there are laws protecting born children. None protecting the unborn. And I disagree with your implication that MY rights aren’t violated by abortion, therefore I shouldn’t care. That’s just as absurd as saying my rights aren’t violated when Joe Gangbanger murders his homie in South Central. Why should I care, I didn’t know either of them. If nobody cared about things that didn’t concern them immediately, here and now, society would fall apart (and it is). We care because we all have to live in this world and those of us who are fortunate enough to survive gestation have a duty to protect the weak, whether it’s convenient for others at all times or not.

Men and women have the ability to be rational and use reason, rather than their emotions, to determine what is right and wrong. And no kidding, it’s a fight for power. The power of the strong over the weak. You think it’s okay for a woman to kill her baby for whatever reason. It’s not so much “uncomfortable” as it is outrageous. Abortion and murder are false equivalents? Once again, I will point to the hypocrisy of murder of a pregnant woman being charged as two counts of murder. So it’s murder if the baby is killed and the mom is presumed to have wanted it. Merrimack-Webster defines murder as “The unlawful killing of a human person, especially with malice aforethought”. So the law recognizes the fetus, as you insist on calling the baby, as a “human person”. But it’s okay for that human person to be killed by mom (through the doctor’s agency). Where should the line be drawn when we start killing people?

pleasantfolk @vjmacetal When a granny has cancer on life support, her next of kin has power of attorney...to pull the plug. That's the closest equivalent to abortions. In Canada, you can take a pill and take yourself out under doctor supervision if your condition is life threatening. I understand your perspective and thank you for sharing, but I reason differently. There is more to say but I said what I said and I'll leave it at that good day.

vjmacetal Rape and incest...are...felonies. Sooo yeah, if the guy who got her pregnant committed a crime, I suspect he’ll be prosecuted. But I don’t think justice is really what you’re concerned about here. If we want to talk about stupid laws, let’s talk about how it’s two counts of murder to kill a pregnant woman, but is fine if she wants to off the baby herself. That’s not inconsistent at all.

You want women to have babies they don't want, then figure out a way to help the situation, don't just pour opinions all over the internet. I am one hundred percent willing to adopt a child, I am also one hundred percent for abortion. Women should help women not shame them. Period.
