It prevents any woman from having an abortion once you hear the baby’s heartbeat—which happens as early as 6 weeks: too soon to know of a pregnancy in some cases. This bill undermines the Constitution & does not exclude cases of incest or rape. Kentucky, Mississippi, North Dakota, & Iowa all passed similar heartbeat bills which were ultimately blocked by a federal judge. Ohio and Georgia both currently have heartbeat bills passed that go into affect July 10 and Jan 1, 2020 respectively. The Governor of each state is who signs off on these bills from the Senate which is why it is so important to pay attention to the policies and practices of who you’re voting for.
