And, in 1980, Stevie wrote a reggae song dedicated to his friend Bob called "Master Blaster", which spent seven weeks at the top of Billboard's R&B singles chart. When Bob was asked about the tune, he said, “I was surprised because Stevie didn’t tell me he was going to do it, but someone who was in the studio with him called me up and said, ‘You know what? Stevie record a reggae song and him wondering if ya like it and blah blah boom’, you know what I mean? So this person tells Stevie, ‘Yeah, Bob’s going to like it’ and then I hear it and it sound GOOD man. Yeah, Mast-ah Blass-tah.
