Following Mississippi and Ohio’s lead, Georgia’s governor has signed the “heartbeat bill” into law, which outlaws abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected — which can be as early as six weeks into a pregnancy. Up to 49% of pregnancies are unplanned, and irregular periods are not uncommon. This means that people with uteruses who are only two weeks late on their period could be denied access to a safe and legal abortion, and if they choose to seek the procedure elsewhere, face a life sentence in prison. This #BackdoorBan is an infringement on reproductive and human rights. There is nothing #ProLife about this policy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
