"I get a lot of questions about the order in which I do my color services. And the answer is it’s always situational. For this client, I did her balayage first, processed to the desired lightness,shampooed, lightly conditioned and rinsed . I took her back to my chair, fluff dried her scalp area then applied her base color then her toner to the mids and ends.
This allowed me to drag her base out a bit, creating a shadow root effect while covering her 7 and a half greys( that I threaten violence to her person if she plucks them😉😂) and tone her balayage at the same time! If she wanted less of a melted look, I may have applied her base first. It’s all about the final result for me."
