#May9th, #VictoryDay marks Nazi Germany’s surrender to the Soviet Union in 1945 ( #WW2 ). Commonly referred to as celebration with tears upon the eyes . Because it’s not only the anniversary of The Red Army’s triumph against Nazi Germany, but also an intensely personal day for people of Russia and many of the former Soviet republics, whose collective casualties during World War II exceeded 25 million. Effecting every family in the country, including my own. It’s a day of #reverence, pride and profound #gratitude to those who gave their lives and did the impossible, to protect us all from fascism.

It was a horrible time and I hope something like that will never happen again. But please, not the whole Germany was Nazi Germany. It hurts me a lot..... My grandfather gave his life to protect Jews and many other people from different nations. He was a proud German and he hate what's happened in this time.

The unusually harsh winter was indeed a turning point for the war & thank goodness an advantage that the Russians were better equipped to fight in those conditions contributed significantly to a victorious outcome. Thank you Bar for reminding us of Russia’s vital role in ending the war. ❤️

I was born in Russia and I want to tell you thank you so much that you are not indifferent. Thank you very much for your congratulations for Russia, this is a very important holiday because a lot of people died, including my great-grandfather in the fight against the Germans.

A victory for Soviet Russia, but at the sacrifice of the eastern European countries which had their men sent to fight in the front lines for Russia. Maybe would be a reason to celebrate if it would be a victory day for all the countries involved, not just Russia.

Incredible photo, it says so much. My dad was at Normandy when you could get him to talk about the war, the stories were both chilling and fascinating . Thanks for that post!
