Below is the piece I wrote 😊 I don’t remember how I knew he was missing but I remember how I found him. His little body lifeless rips in his blue overalls and next to him his matching blue hat. In a moment that slowed itself down to what felt like minutes, I couldn’t bear to turn him over to see his little face. I didn’t want what I knew to be true, to be real. Then time itself sped up and I grabbed at him, turning him over to see his face. What kind of monster would do this? His neck ripped open, his insides falling out and all around him. His face barely recognizable, where was his eye? I gathered him in my arms, all of him. As much as I could find and as much as I could carry. There was only one person that could help us now! We struggled inside. The tears streaming from my eyes without a sound from my lips. Life was never going to be the same for me, and maybe there was going to be no life for Minky. Was this the end? Had the end of it all finally come in the night while I was sleeping and hoping for a new day. Then my father appeared in the face of this crisis, and he snatched us both up in his strong arms. He soothed me and told me not to worry. He told me that Minky could be saved he just needed surgery. So my hero got his toolkit and set me on the side counter. He set Minky on the makeshift gurney. He grabbed Minky's insides and began to stuff them back in. I knew that Minky was going to be disfigured but that he would survive. The sun came in and breathed life back into Minky as my father sewed him back to life. Sure Minky had a button for an eye, but it could see just as well as his previous one. Sure his smile was now made from red thread, but he still looked just as happy. And right when I thought he would have nothing to be proud of, my father sewed a new yellow bow tie around his neck. To hide the vicious dog attack that minky had endured. Now 30 years later Minky, A world traveler and an explorer he has made his way around the world with me. We have both overcome our share of traumas and have some scars to show for it. Mine inside and his out. We made it none the less.」5月7日 0時35分 - genevievemorton
