Look closely, and you’ll see the pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti). Small in size and with a talent for camouflage, this fish is not easy to spot amid Australia’s coral reefs. It’s a mere 0.8 inches (2 centimeters) long and typically stays attached to gorgonian coral. In fact, it’s so elusive that it was only accidentally discovered in the late 1960s by scientists who found one attached to a sea fan that they were studying!
