I LOVE this pose…it has taught me so much about leverage and how to adjust my center of gravity in all my poses. Plus, you couldn’t be any closer to the ground, so there is nothing to worry about.  GETTING INTO EIGHT ANGLE POSE: PREP: Sit with your legs in front of your, pull your right knee into your right armpit. Rotate the right hip open, so that your right shin runs across your chest. Use both arms to hug in your shin toward your chest and gently work your right hip socket back and forth to lube up that joint (like you’re rocking a baby…your right shin is the baby). LET’S DO IT: Now take your right leg, and “backpack” it over your right shoulder. Try as best you can to get the back of your knee over your right shoulder. Align your blocks a little wider than shoulder distance. Place hands on blocks, …core in and up, and lift yourself up. Pull your core in again on an inhale, and put space between your supporting joints (think up, think light, think hydraulics!). Find a focal point on the ground, about a foot in front of you.  On your exhale, wrap your legs like ropes and squeeze them together. At the same time you are using all that core and shoulder strength (mostly core), play around with moving your center of gravity forward by bringing your shoulders closer to the ground and your bootie higher…you can teeter totter your weight back and forth just to experiment with your center of gravity. When you find the sweet spot, squeeze legs tighter and tell yourself you’re a badass...
