In the aftermath of the tragic terrorist attacks on two mosques in Christchurch in March, New Zealand-born illustrator Ruby Jones (@rubyalicerose), 25, published a drawing on Instagram that resonated with so many people from all over the world. “I thought the joint response from both New Zealand and Australia was incredible. Although it broke my heart even more when I heard their connection to what happened, I think it has sparked some incredibly important conversations around racism, inclusion and acceptance that were well overdue in both countries.
“Fear comes from not knowing. We’d live in a much happier world if we talked and learned more about each other. We are all just people regardless of where we come from, our background and how we look. No one is worth more than anyone else,” she tells Vogue.
