She also produced the 2004 Academy Award-winning documentary on Chernobyl victims called "Chernobyl Heart.” Since this photograph was taken (in 2005), the quality of care for these children has greatly improved, thanks to organizations like Adi’s.  33 years ago today, April 26, 1986, Reactor No. 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant blew up. The radioactive fallout spread over thousands of square kilometers, driving more than a quarter of a million people permanently from their homes.
