In 2013 the world witnessed its worst ever garment worker disaster when Rana Plaza, a garment factory in Bangladesh, collapsed killing almost 1200 people and injuring 2500 more. Out of this unfathomable disaster has grown a movement of hope and action 🙌🏼 @fash_rev and @fash_rev_ausnz #whomademyclothes – it’s brought awareness and mobilisation to customers (myself included) and called for accountability and transparency from brands. And because, in the fashion supply chain especially, social responsibilities and environmental responsibilities are inextricably linked, its become a week to not only spotlight the workers ~ but to bring about a broader conversation around sustainability, circularity and other really important issues that are usually not explored much in amongst all the pretty images on social media. You’ll find all sorts of info, imagery and story around who makes our clothes in the People + Planet pages of our website year round - but this week we’ll be sharing some of the stories of our makers here, including films and interviews... and we’re really loving being a part of this rapidly growing movement, which is feeling more like a community than ever!
