Happy Veg Week Instagram! 🌱 The liberating and healing potential this movement is offering our planet, our bodies and the animals on Earth is so exciting. The suffering of any party is not necessary. -
I believe we are innately good and compassionate. But conditioning has desensitised us. Advertising has averted our attention. If you are not currently living a plant based lifestyle and words like shame and guilt are arising surrounding this conversation (just as they did for me) I would ask: Are my actions in someway not aligned with my true values? As you approach the transition to veganism the denial becomes harder to ward off, but there is endless excitement and reward waiting on the other side 💚 I support you! Pledge To Go Veg at the link in my bio xxxxx

I find it a very noble ideal but the problem with the vegan lifestyle is that presently, due to overpopulation and westernised demand, it is actually impacting animal habitat greatly due to the vast amount of land needed. The biggest impact on this earth historically wasn’t hunting and gathering, but the inception of farming. Millions of hectares of forest burned in the Neolithic to make land for crops, then the population exploded. In contemporary times, Vegan crops are specialised and expensive. Poor countries are meeting the demand (cheaper labour than the west) by cutting down forest, cultivating wild meadows and removing animal habitat/ implementing pest control. A utopian dream which I hope works out, as I find it very admirable.

You hit the nail on the head. I put on a show last year that detailed the way that animal agriculture promotes a system of oppression (you can read my statement here, scroll to the 2nd to last post! https://www.cecollinsart.com/blog) and I drew a lot of inspiration and truth from the book The Sexual Politics of Meat by Carol J Adams. The book is an incredible read and it really brings the movement full circle for me. Thanks so much for being an activist, I’d love to chat on the topic one day💖

What’s your take on small farms/farmers who are very kind and loving to their livestock and try to steward those animals to live a healthy life before they are killed or as they are used for their milk/egg/wool fiber/etc? Where I come from, there are many places like that. It’s taught as being a careful art somewhat. We give to them and they give to us. Hunting and fishing are also hugely popular here.

I was raw vegan for almost a year and loved it, but it was detrimental to my health due to an ED and I returned to consuming animal products while recovering. I feel like I've finally hit a place where I'll be safe returning to a vegan diet and I'm beginning by phasing vegetarian this week!💫💛💫

I love you jenna but Jesus Christ 🙄 we aren't murdering animals, they aren't humans, what about the vegetables family your killing. It's the same thing. Vegans are very opinionated on the topic, and I appreciate that, but please don't use terms like murder or violence, it's unnecessary 😁

The ones in power don’t want us using cannabis or other psychoactive substances for the same reason. They want to keep us in the dark. They don’t want us asking questions. We gotta wake up our sleeping souls here y’all
