シーン・マコールさんのインスタグラム写真 - (シーン・マコールInstagram)「I visited France 🇫🇷, and Paris for the first time in 2002. It was the Youth World Championships and I was still in the youngest category. Naturally I saw the most stunning sites of the city including the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and the Notre-Dame cathedral. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whenever a monument of such importance is damaged so extensively, it is always a tragedy, no matter where you are from. On a positive note amongst the chaos, from the news filtering through, I’ve read that a lot of paintings, artefacts and relics were saved (from the heroic 500 some fire-fighters) and most of the sculptures were removed 4 days prior in preparation for the renovations. Sadly one of the giant stained glass windows was destroyed and the spire pictured here collapsed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is a photo of my first time marvelling the cathedral, not that it’s of any importance, but it’s a reminder of sites I’ve seen over the years both pre and post destruction. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m sure Paris will unite and restore the cathedral; it will still be as beautiful as it was when constructed and now this terrible fire of 2019 will be a part of its already tremendous history. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📸 by: Terry McColl circa 2002 #paris #notredame #tragedy」4月17日 17時31分
