'Sitting at the actual crossroads of Eurasia and, for centuries, being the gateway to both east and west, the cultural heritage of #Uzbekistan is incredible, and it can be seen not only in the numerous palaces, fortresses and mosques, but also in the population, with origins ranging from #Mongolian to Indo-European. Visiting the different Silk Road cities in Uzbekistan is like traveling to the past and, among all its cities, towns and landmarks, perhaps, my favorite would be #Khiva, a 2,500-year old city composed of narrow alleys, mud-brick houses, minarets, mosques and traditional houses. The photo depicts the walls that surround the Old City of Khiva, which are believed to have been built in the 10th century.' – @againstthecompass -- That's a wrap for this weekend's #lpinstatakeover folks!
