We applaud the ANNA shelter and their director, Ruth Thompson, for doing amazing things to help animals but we know that they can do better when it comes to this inhumane and unnecessary amputation procedure. We are sad that Ms Thompson told us, "We try not give an opinion one way or the other," when it comes to declawing. 🙀😾 . The Anna Shelter was an Adoption Partner at a Petsmart store and a Pet Supplies Plus store in Erie, PA. We asked both of these companies if they will only use Adoption Partners who don't condone or declaw cats and would they inspire the ANNA Shelter to do the right thing. . @petsuppliesplus spoke with the ANNA Shelter about this issue and said the ANNA Shelter was unwilling to change any of their current practices so this Pet Supplies Plus store parted ways with them. @petsmartcharities told us to reach out to the Adoption Partner in question and didn't respond to our follow-up emails. We asked the manager at this specific @petsmart store if Petsmart is ok this the Anna Shelter declawing cats and condoning it for their shelter cats. He said, “Yeah, nothing against it.” 🙀😾😾😾😾😾 . We are happy to report that @orphanangels Cat Sanctuary and Adoption Center is the new Adoption Partner at this Pet Supplies Plus store. Ophan Angels is against declawing, they educate the public about the facts and the humane options, and they have a no-declaw clause in their adoption contracts! ❤️ . Also, PLEASE give a BIG thank you to Pet Supplies Plus for really trying to help us protect cats from this animal cruelty!
