This week’s #RoleModelMonday is Kylie Simonds. At only 11 years old, Kylie created her own IV backpack to give back to children with cancer. Kylie, a cancer survivor, has witnessed firsthand the inconvenience and hardships of being hooked up to an IV. She decided to dedicate her first months of elementary school to learning how to make this backpack a reality. Kylie states “ I remember tripping over all the wires, & getting tangled up having to drag a big thing around,” & goes on to speak on the fact that she would have loved one of these backpacks for herself during that time. The Pediatric backpack which Kylie invented incorporates an IV pole along with a drip bag protection case. Kylie is already making such a huge difference as a young fifth grade student.
