As a parent of a child with autism I understand that autism awareness is very important. If you choose to donate to an organization this week I urge you to select one that is actually supporting people with autism & their families such as autism-society.org or autisticadvocacy.org ✨ ✨✨ We have been extremely blessed as a family...there is no “cure” for autism as it is not a disease, the world needs to be aware of that! #autismawarenessweek #autismawarenessmonth ❤️✨

jnhthetraveler Yes, no Autism Speaks! Shameless promotion, but if anybody wants to donate money to the Meredith Autism Program (MAP) at @meredithcollege (my alma mater), I know they would absolutely love it! It’s a FANTASTIC program. A former professor of mine has a son with autism (he’s now around 12 I think?) who went there. He started around 18-24 months I think and was very nonverbal, but after he graduated from the program, he was able to start kindergarten in the classroom with all his peers.
