When I use a large-format camera, I don’t even need to look through the lens to focus. I haven’t measured the light in years. Every time a new assistant comes in with a light meter, I make fun of them. ‘What are you doing? You need to speak with light, there’s nothing to measure.’ So, I’m definitely attached to this place. It is like a second home, maybe even more, the place where I dream, imagine, where I try to create things… But in terms in roots… You know, the studio is not just a space to me. It is a way to photograph. Actually, I take my studio with me everywhere I go, in Rue Paul Fort or in the tundras of Lapland. The studio is a corner of my mind, it is my way of seeing, of standing before the subject, of sharing feelings. So, this place is many things, but not my roots.
