It’s estimated that we use over 500 million plastic straws every day just in the U.S. alone. Most of those end up in our oceans, polluting the water and killing marine life. chateauparadisesharon In the U.K. many fast food places are planning on replacing plastic straws with paper ones, unfortunately there’s HUGE resistance to this. If people object to banning plastic one use straws then how are we ever gonna van stuff like plastic bags, bottles and packaging 😩

anafromhavana Agree. We stopped using them long ago. Also there are sunscreens that are better for Marine life. Reefs are greatly affected by the sunscreen we wear. I make sure to use reef safe biodegradable sunscreen in the ocean. Every little bit helps.

alexa.w How about not using straws at all? It's not even an inconvenience. As an adult you should be able to drink directly from the glass/cup.
