Poised on the eastern bank of the Rupanco Lake in Chilean Patagonia, a family home stands proudly on stilts. Architecture firm @aguilopedraza_arquitectos aimed to create a sheltered space, resistant to the area’s harsh environmental conditions. The pavilion-like structure found its place in the landscape guarded by two century-old trees. The architects ‘moulded’ Corten steel, creating a first floor bay to block the icy south wind that blows in the summer, and a stairway orientated towards the north that acts as a buffer to the winter winds.
