In #RebeccaHorn's mechanized sculptural installations, ordinary objects spring to life and engage in carefully choreographed ballets. For her 1993 Guggenheim retrospective, Horn created ʺParadiso,ʺ in which two swollen, breast-like funnels were suspended high above the museum's rotunda. With metronomic regularity, these objects excreted a milky liquid that dripped onto the rotunda floor far below. Placing the entire building in a state of tension, ʺParadisoʺ held viewers in suspense as they awaited the next drip.

toddwmurphy I’ll never forget the piano piece at the bottom of ramp 6. I worked the night shift during this exhibit and on a few occasions it would spring open (as I was passing underneath it) and scare me to death.
