The city requires buildings taller than 6 stories to have their facades inspected every 5 years to ensure the safety of passers-by. Rather than using bulky scaffolds or hydraulic cranes, an increasing number of design and engineering firms are training their staff members to rappel down, suspended by ropes like the ones used by #rockclimbers. Rope access can be less expensive, less time-consuming and less obtrusive.
