I have a lot to say and write about touching and interacting with sharks that I will write on another post but hoping you can enjoy a perspective of this GORGEOUS tiger shark who seems to keep seeking out touch, mouth as closed as possible, her nictitating membrane flickering as she flickers between curiosity and caution.
A calm, purposeful, gentle but locked elbow redirection without fear, just respect and over a decade + of experience I enjoy this mutual curiosity and perhaps excitement to get to know this other individual. Forever fascinated with behavior they never cease to amaze me.
I would highly advise against ever purposely jumping in the water with a tigershark without an extensively trained guide. I agree with look but don’t touch but if another being wants to instigate the interaction I will still oblige, sometimes it’s necessary for safety but I never touch aggressively or disrespectfully. I know what I am doing and I am not trying to encourage others to do this, just sharing a small moment of my life and a side of sharks that is not usually shown. Enjoy.
