A small carousel of photos of the North American #MagPie, photographed on a cold and fun morning with my dad @dougladzinski and @andy_mann. The 3 of us were posted up waiting for a herd of elk to move in when a small flock of magpies started landing around us to investigate. We shifted our focus to them and spent the better part of an hour photographing the small flock in the gently falling snow. These birds are incredibly intelligent and commonly found in the western part of North America. They’re quite beautiful on close inspection and have unique iridescent blue and green markings in their darker feathers. Magpies are one of 4 birds in North America whose tail feather makes up half or more of its total length.
