On March 11, 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake shook Japan which unleashed a tsunami causing devastation and destruction. Scientists said that the main island of Japan shifted by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis. The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station was severely damaged and caused the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl. The family portrait was submerged until the water receded. The 2nd image is of a man walking out of his damaged home. A toilet is all that remains of a family’s house. In picture number 5 the destroyed wall of a gas station created an abstract design.
