Swip sadly passed away this past weekend. Both a good friend and long time esteemed colleague of ZOO, Swip collaborated with us for over a quarter of a century, generously lending his visions and constantly pushing the envelope, he exhibited an unmatched artist flair for graphic design and illustration.
At a time when the internet was non-existent and annuals were not around from which to borrow ideas, Swip was truly a self-cultivated pioneer demonstrating incredible foresight of vision. Swip conceived of the DUTCH and ZOO logo, collaborated on various projects such as 4 Africa and re-envisioned the ZOO emblem for our commemorative Berlin issue. Aside from this, Swip has left a professional legacy in many other arenas and will always holds a special place in our hearts. ‘Swip remains one of the world’s best conceptual and visionary artists out there ’ – our editor-in-chief, Sandor Lubbe.
