Dear Mom,
There’s a number of remarkable women in my life but frankly, no one holds a candle to you. No one has shaped me more as a woman or has had a greater impact on my life than you. As a young girl, growing up, watching you nurture the souls of so many children, nurturing mine, leading with your heart and finding hope in even the darker moments of life, you demonstrated unconditional love. You taught me compassion. I cannot remember a time when you didn’t have complete and absolute faith in me and in everyone around you. Your optimistic, glass half-full attitude allowed me to unabashedly follow my dreams. And when I saw “failures” in life you saw “stepping stones”. In those moments, you taught me perseverance and strength.
Now, as a mom of two young children, I get the privilege to see the effect you have on your grandchildren. To watch you bestow so much patience, kindness and joy in their lives, your incomparable impact as our matriarch continues. To have witnessed you walk through this world so graciously, I must thank your mom, for Gram clearly “raised you right”. It’s not lost on me, the importance of motherhood, the deep responsibility it demands and that ALL children deserve unconditional love. I will try to continue your beautiful legacy and honor the lineage of great women before you.
