Today, in honor of #internationalwomensday ✨ I’ve been thinking about the women in my life who have taught me how to be a woman. I have learned so much, through and from them. Each in their own delicate, powerful way, has changed my life profoundly. I’ve witnessed some become mothers- what an extraordinary thing, to watch someone you know so we’ll cross that threshold... what miracles, a female body is capable of... I am a godmother now. It is such a gift, watching him grow, getting to be a part of his life... We’ve held each other through losses and celebrated each other’s victories. Some of them have gone through things no one should ever have to bear, and yet you would never know it, by the light they bring to the world. Some are currently battling things that push them to the brink of what they can endure- but they carry on, quietly heroic, moving mountains, still taking the time to check in, to see how I am doing, to tell me that I’m loved... I’ve learned how strong a woman can be, how graceful under pressure, how to remain soft in a world that is anything but gentle, through them. Feminine energy is complex and mysterious. I wouldn’t know what to do with mine without the examples these exquisite human beings have set. Cheers to sisterhood. May we all help each other evolve. The world needs feminine energy more than ever, Mother Earth needs our care. May we do what we can to expand to our fullest selves, so we can turn the tides of the future and ensure that little girls to come have a safer, kinder, healthier world to live in than the one we grew up in.
