Yesterday was 6 years since my dad passed. I didn’t have the strength to write this yesterday and even now I am fighting back the lump in my throat. But I couldn’t go the day without celebrating this human and also being vocal about grief so this could be a platform for all those who have lost someone dear to them to find support. As most of you know by now, my dad was my knight in shining armor. He was my best friend and pushed me to do things out of my comfort zone because he knew I was capable and knew my potential. I didn’t realize it then because I was in my 20’s, but I realize now how much he set me up for a happy life. I only got 28 years with him and I feel like I got robbed but at least I was one of the lucky ones who was able to call him my dad. He is and was a blessing in everyone’s life. I’m so sorry for all of you who’s grief is new or hurts so much right now. I’m so sorry for you who’s grief is more familiar. Don’t fight back the tears. Let them rain. And then when you feel strong enough, put that smile back on because that’s what they would have wanted. I love you all.
