I don’t paint directly on the foil, instead I free hand paint like I would for an open air balayage and then place a foil under neath and on top to sandwich the section together. This gives me the exact pattern of an open air balayage just with more lift. . ? #HairTip: to get even more lift, pop a diffuser onto your blow dryer and hit those foils for just a few moments to kick start that lifting process (especially if your salon is cold like mine right now!) ✨
