A queen, an empress, and a boy who dared to dream. •
Michelle Kwan is an idol, a role model, and icon, and so many other superlatives, but it’s more than the domination she held over the sport for more than a decade. She is caring and genuine beyond belief.
This picture was taken between the team even and the individual event in Sochi.
After we took this she pulled me aside and talked to me about my skating. She told me simply to “let it be”. Not only is it one of my favorite Beatles songs, but it’s a powerful sentiment that helped me to personal victories at those Olympics, the following worlds, and my current professional performing career. It’s the most simple thing, but sometimes the hardest thing to do. To trust the years of work and preparation, to relinquish “control”, to be mindful and present, and to just skate.
I’m not sure she knows how much this simple act impacted me, but she will now ;)
Now, when I find myself in times of trouble mother Michelle comes to me speaking words of wisdom, “let it be”. ?
Thank you for the years of inspiration, for being an incredible role model, for your hard work and passion, and for taking your time to help someone who many deemed helpless at that time. You always have been and always will be a Kween ❤️

Wow! A triple threat!! Three of my absolute favorite skaters and people. Michelle has set the standard for perfection on the ice and hard work and graciousness off of the ice. Ashley and Jeremy have given me so much pleasure with their skating and have inspired me with their never give up attitudes! A big thanks to all of you from a grateful fan!!

I hope you realize that you are an inspiration and a role model who worked hard and dedicated his life to skating🙌. You represented your country well at every event you participated in, no matter what the outcome was because you gave it everything you had. If you fell, you got up, continued on with grace and never gave up❤️🇺🇲

What a beautifully fitting post. Ashley, you have done more for US ladies skating than anyone since our Kween. It’s quite a mantle to wear, and your reverence for Kwan and her legacy makes you fit to carry it on. I hope we can find someone to fill those shoes.
