Today was hard. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it and say that receiving two dogs that were loved by their former owner is easy to do. Because it’s not. Everyone falls on rough times in life. And one of the sweetest things about having a dog is being able to hold onto them for emotional support and unconditional love in our times of need. Unfortunately in this case, Chloe and Penny are the victims of circumstance, and it’s devastating for all involved.

When the owner left, @birdandthedogs and I were sitting holding the girls in our back room so they didn’t see him go. We talked to them, told them that it was ok, they are so very loved, and we are so excited to have them here with us, holding back our own tears in order to be strong for their sake. We kissed them, held them and engaged them for a long while, long after we heard the front door close. The busyness of the day took over, people came and went, and Penny and Chloe were very happy to be in the mix. Nova was here with us as well, and a new girl gang was quickly formed.

Penny, the five year old low riding cutie pie is ALL SMILES ? and definitely the intelligent, got it all together, quiet leader of the two. Although both girls LIT UP when my son walked in after school, Penny smothered him in kisses, then never left his side. Chloe, the “Everything is Awesome” (cue the LEGO Movie theme song ?) Golden Retriever climbed her big bod onto the sofa, kissed him while sliding off and went and laid down on the dog bed in defeat. A funny moment in an otherwise trying day (check out our stories...).

Today our hearts broke for these angels and their loss. Tomorrow is my birthday. My only wish is that Penny and Chloe are about to find their best lives ever...

tracey72454 💜💕💕💕 unconditional love right there it’s best feeling in the world. My thoughts to the person who had to give up his babies I can’t even imagine. Losing a pet is so hard they are like our children. Hugs to him and you are circumstances happen it’s very sad. Please please someone take these dogs together. I’m in Ohio I wish I could 💕💜❤️

leslieg39 It would also be helpful if you sponsor their adoption. It is a great “extra” way to promote them. Here in Sonoma County our North Bay Animal Services often has people who can not take another pet, but are willing to sponsor a pet or two to get the word out about pets so people will take a look.

e_harves I can’t stop thinking about the owner. Is he ok? Is it rude to ask what happened in his life that made him have to give them up? Poor thing. I hope he has people in life as sweet as you guys to lean on!
