I remember when Mazzy and Harlow were first born, those regular checkups at the pediatrician were like my lifeline. I always came armed with questions and observations and tried to get as much information as I could during my time with their doctor. My babies were both small, so seeing their weight go up, even if it was just a little, was so reassuring to me. The pediatrician told me how my kids were growing, confirmed that they were meeting their developmental milestones, gave me feeding instructions, sleep advice, bowel movement analysis and all my babies’ vaccinations on the CDC-recommended schedule. Today I’m partnering with @PfizerInc to talk about how important it is to take your baby to all of the AAP-recommended baby checkups during your first 2 years as a new parent! So much happens especially in that first year!!! You can go to the link in my bio to learn what to expect and what to ask at each baby checkup. @PfizerInc #sponsored

🙌 awesome post! My son was humongous and my daughter was a peanut so I honestly went from one extreme to the other when my daughter was born! Also, our family had all boys until her so what did I know about girls? Well there have been 6 kids since her...all girls! My dad has 6 grandsons and 6 granddaughters! I will go to my grave saying boys are easier but nothing beat those visits to our Dr. for all the same reasons you listed! As comfortable as I was as a new mother, I lived for those books and charts to be filled in and all my questions answered! Thanks for posting such great advice - partnership or not!

Fellow petite baby mom here. Our pediatrician is also an infectious disease specialist and never ceases to amaze me with his breadth of knowledge. He makes me feel good saying “She looks like how a X month/year old should look like” at their check-ups. Everybody in my area is used to 90th+ percentile babies so always act like my 25-40th percentile babies are ill!

Ah, totally remember those days. My oldest (he’ll be 5 soon) was a picky eater. Your posts about Harlow’s food pickiness were like life to me. I didn’t know a single soul who’s kid didn’t eat. I felt so alone and stressed and every time you posted about her in such a lighthearted way, made me feel better.

My kids have all been small, like 12th % and under. But healthy nonetheless. We have our 4 month check up for my youngest next week and I have a running list of questions to ask!

Omg, YES. And I absolutely *love* that I can send a note to our pediatrician any time with our patient portal app! She’s so patient with this worrywart mom...

Yes! I’m a nurse, but I still love going to the dr with my little one. It’s so reassuring to hear that she’s growing & meeting all of her milestones 💗
