This is my dear friend @selmablair Last night she stood on the world stage for the first time, since being diagnosed with MS. And later this week, she is taking an even bigger step, and speaking publicly on @Good Morning America (with, my girl crush @robinrobertsgma ) To say I’m proud, would be a gross understatement. When I have a cold, I want to hide from the world under my covers. But not Selma. She is facing this diagnosis, the way she faces everything, with dignity, grace and head on. I know the support and encouragement that she has received on this platform has truly been a source of strength for her. This is not an easy journey, but Selma will not let this define her. I love you James.

Thank you @selmablair for the interview you gave and for stepping out on the red carpet (and so you should😚). Through your tears I think you said ‘it took so much to come out’. I can’t imagine how much it would have taken. But I’m so glad you did and I have no doubt many people out there with MS have felt emboldened and ‘seen’ and heard by your decision as a person in the public eye to speak out about the condition, and by being so open and beautifully vulnerable. Don’t underestimate the power of being so human and real with people. You’re beautiful and strong and just.. wow. 👏❤💃

My mother had MS later in life (slower progression). I was busy building my career and having children so didn't realize how much I would regret not having forced her and my father to travel more (I bought them a week at the top MAUI resorts, to make them get out and drive to the other side of the island ;-). Glad to see she's got supportive friends.

My mother (who has been battling MS for 15 years, maybe more called me over with excitement and had me watch the interview. Everything @selmablair was saying about the doctors and getting diagnosed my mother just nodded in agreement and said yep! It’s makes me sad that my mom had to go through all of that before really finding out what was wrong.
