This one has had a UTI and started piddling on beds. 😖 He is back in good health and is now allowed in my bedroom again, but other rooms with beds. Does anyone have tips for me to get him to stop peeing on the other beds? Right now we are just closing him in our room.

snootypuss Ughhhhhhhh Maddie started these shenanigans too. She peed on my bed once about six months ago. It was right around the same time the girls were sort of dueling at night for the best spot on my bed. So I cleaned and cleaned and then kept her out for a week and then she didn’t do it again for about a month and a half. Then bam. Again. I cleaned and started putting a plastic drop cloth on my bed every morning 🙄 THEN she pooped diarrhea on the plastic about a month ago after I got back from being gone on vacation. I chalked it up to her having tummy trouble (common) and taking out me being gone. Luckily, I was still using the plastic. Went away for three days again last week and came home to another messy poop, again luckily there was plastic. But like, I’m already enough of a cat lady. How will I ever explain to a man I may someday date why there is a plastic drop cloth on my bed when we go in there to do the dirty? Talk about a mood killer. “Oh yeah, well, my cat shits on my bed when she has the runs so I keep plastic on it. Hold on a minute while I check for a steamer and then fold it up”

purrrsianpalace Oh, god. I’m going through the same thing right now. I spoke to a cat behaviorist the other day. The very bad news is that simply laundering the bedding isn’t good enough. We may not be able to smell the scent but the cat still can. And anywhere they smell that scent tells their brain “It’s ok to pee here”. As a starter suggestion place a safety pin on the pee spot. Then soak your bedding in water with vinegar and baking soda for 30-60 min. Rinse but don’t dry. Spray with an enzyme solution ( I recommend RegDoctor Platinum Professional Urine Eliminator) and set the wet bundle aside for 24 hrs. Then dry. Make the bed then put the cat on it. Does he sniff the spot where the safety pin is? If not, then your bedding is salvageable. I have other suggestions too if you want to DM me.

nankat47 Both of my cats where having issues with UTIs and peeing outside the litter box, both ended up being diagnosed with FLUTD. They are now on a prescription diet and anxiety meds. I also saw a lot of improving with using Jackson Galaxy’s Safe Space (for the stress). I don’t want to jinx it but we’ve been accident free for several months (watch me find a puddle on the carpet tonight 🤦🏻‍♀️😭)

fuji_babykins There are scent stimulators that encourages cats to pee. Never bought any but I’ve seen online where you can purchase and put by the litter box. And yes washing the bedding in a vinegar mixture should do wonders.❤️

thatdamnjourdanjean Any time mine have had a UTI, I keep them in my room and don’t let them back in when they’re healthy until I’ve washed my bedding, mattress, and carpet in several rounds of vinegar and bleach (where I can.)

anabananakitty No tips but we wrestling with 4 ill cats with coughs, sneezing and lack of eating all are on antibiotics so much fun. Hope there is a solution for you. Or kitty diapers poor baby 😿never fun @littledumdums
