77 years ago today Executive Order 9066 was signed -forcibly sending 110,000 Japanese Americans into internment camps across the nation. My grandmother was 16 years old when her family lost everything including their prized family farm. My grandfather served in the 442nd -which is still the most decorated in US army history. A few weeks ago the @gfbnec greatly honored my grandfather Bryan Kazuyuki Honkawa by engraving his name on their historic monument for Nisei 442nd veterans. My family and I are so beyond grateful to @mitchelltmaki Gavin Do and the entire Go For Broke team for making this happen for us. He lives forever in my heart but I can live happier knowing his legacy and bravery will live on for generations. Thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart. ?? If you don't know about the incarceration of the Japanese American people in 1942 please take two minutes out of your day to educate yourself on this sometimes forgotten portion of history.
