Our motto at Sweeten is to #renovatefearlessly, because with the right tools, team, and mindset, the process of remodeling can be a fun—and unforgettable experience. Today a first-time renovator @_thegrandapt is sharing her remodeling story. "Hi! I’m Sarah from @_thegrandapt, and I live in New York City with my cat Penny Lane. Two years ago, I bought and gutted a one-bedroom apartment on the Lower East Side. I had no renovation experience (unless you count Barbie homes and/or copious hours of @HGTV), so I hired a contractor to do the work. What I did have, thankfully, was a vision. And boy did I need it—because pre-reno, my place was in rough shape. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The fridge literally had a sign taped over it that read, “DO NOT OPEN.” The good news? There was lots of natural light (especially once I started tearing down walls!). The hardwoods were original. The ceilings were (relatively) high. There was even a kitchen that could fit more than one person at once! In other words, there were LOTS of opportunities to make it pretty. And make it pretty I did."
