Every year, @nytimestravel releases a list of 52 places to go. This year, the number 1 place to visit is #PuertoRico, home of bomba, plena, lechón and for a few weeks, @hamiltonmusical. One traveler, @sebmodak, is going to all 52 places this year. He began his travels in #SanJuan, where he found life divided into 2 categories: Before Hurricane Maria, and after Hurricane Maria. Throughout his 6 days on the island, he says a single sentence spoken by a 13-year-old was on repeat in his mind: “La vida continúa,” or “Life goes on.” Tourist numbers are slowly creeping back to their pre-hurricane levels in Puerto Rico, even if most of those people are sticking to the same spots. @sebmodak spent most of his time on the island beyond the regular tourism routes, dancing at La Terraza de Bonanza and in the hills and farms in the center of the country.
