Did a round up for @BOF (link in bio) on extreme new talent in NYFW (not the snooze fest that some international editors make it out to be) and one of my favourite new discoveries is Caroline Hu @carolineqiqi who was a breakout graduate of @parsonsfashionmfa
Hu approaches her work like that of a painter, using smocked layers of different fabrics and piecing them together, building them up like textural brushstrokes. The result is an exquisite of collection of artisanal dresses, where no two piece could really be exactly alike as one another. I also like how Hu uses discarded scraps and fabric samples in her work, which only adds to the beautiful haphazardness.
