Pálína Axelsdóttir Njarðvík isn’t immune to the charms of her lifestyle. Long before she started @farmlifeiceland—an Instagram account devoted, appropriately, to day-to-day life on her family’s sprawling sheep farm in remote Skeiða- og Gnúpverjahreppur, Iceland—the 27-year-old shared pictures from the farm with her friends in Reykjavik. “I was posting sheep photos because I hang out quite a lot with the sheep when I’m home,” Njarðvík says. (She is, at the moment, pursuing a master’s degree in applied psychology at the University of Iceland.)
“People living in cities around the world have no idea what this reality is like,” Njarðvík says. “So it’s a bit exotic for them, and maybe, in a way, something that they would like.” It’s still work, of course—feeding the sheep every morning; helping with chores around the 1,100-acre property—but it’s work of a quieter kind. “[We’re] a different kind of busy,” Njarðvík says. “There’s something nostalgic about it, I think.” Tap the link in our bio to read more about Njarðvík and 99 other fascinating personalities to know now. #vogueworld
