A picture is worth a thousand words, right?! I was only 12 years old, 4-feet 7 inches tall, and only 77-pounds. I skated a clean program in front of the largest crowd to ever watch a figure skating competition - 25,691 spectators. It was the ultimate bonus when I received my first standing ovation and won the gold. What makes me laugh is Frank’s face. Little do people know, during that year, I was rebellious and took the Senior skating test without my coach knowing...and I passed. This meant that I was going to compete in a level with the “big” girls and I could potentially qualify to compete at the Olympic Games. Even though Frank wasn’t thrilled with me, he supported and encouraged me all the way through. And, he also said that I needed to listen to him and work twice as hard if I wanted to succeed. This flashback is for all the young girls out there who have big dreams - I say go for it! It’s like that saying, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars!” ? #fbf
