It was the summer of 1992 i was 17 living in the ghetto in Boyle heights and my mom used to let me go to @apldeap’s house in Los Feliz on the weekends...some weekends me and @apldeap would go to @djmotiv8 house to make beats...I thought I was cool cuz I would bring my uncles classic soul records to sample, but @djmotiv8 had a much better record collection...he had all these awesome rare records...I remember like it was yesterday listening to Sergio Mendez and Herbie Mann for the first time... There was a song I heard that hypnotised me called “Me Faz Recordad” by Herbie Mann that gave me a feeling of nostalgia where I could recall a past I never lived and a feeling of a future I remembered... I feel in love with that song and I tried for years to figure out a way to sample it... But I couldn’t crack the code & I didn’t know how to write to it correctly... So finally more than 20years later I figured it out... Thank you @djmotiv8 for believing in me and taking the time to teach me how to use your equipment...
You came into my life at the right time...thanks for expanding my musical knowledge simply by going record shopping together and broadening my music spectrum by introducing me to jazz and bossa nova... I also want to Thank an angel named Joyce for introducing me to @djmotiv8 via @og_chino.......There was this one magical day at palisades high school when I didn’t dress for gym class and the gym teacher made me sit on benches by the tennis courts...I was bored so started to entertain myself by banging on the benches with my hands and freestyle rapping to myself...and then boom!!! In walks the encounter that would change my life #4ever... A girl named Joyce came up to me and said “your dope” and started taking to me about some friends she knew...she was raving about some dude she knew that produces beats and that I should meet him... And the rest is history... Imagine if I dressed for gym class that day...??? Image if I never met @Djmotiv8....??? Some encounters turn into magical life changing events that become friendships that turn into families that turn into soul bonds that become Spiritual fusion called Classic @bep #4ever
