Black History Month: Naomi Sims
The Original Black is Beautiful.
Her attempts to get modeling work through established agencies have frustrated her by the racial prejudice of her “skin too dark” that she took matters in her own hands by sidestepping the agencies and going directly to fashion photographers. She became one of the most successful black models of her time and opened doors for all of us to come through. For me she was my role model following her footsteps when she created her own cosmetics line & beauty books.
