DAVID BOWIE: FINDING FAME SPOILERS - “Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare…” - Having had the pleasure of viewing Francis Whately’s David Bowie: Finding Fame at a private preview on Wednesday evening, we thought we’d highlight a few of the things that might interest you. But, for those of you who would rather wait until the broadcast proper on Saturday, 9th February, at 21:00 on BBC TWO, beware, this item does include spoilers. The preview (in London’s Fitzrovia), was attended by pretty well all of the main contributors, including (alphabetically): Kristina Amadeus, Hermione Farthingale, Dana Gillespie, Phil Lancaster, Geoff MacCormack, George Underwood and Woody Woodmansey. Following the screening, Adam Buxton hosted a Q&A with Francis himself. Aside from emotional (and sometimes hilarious), tributes from those and other contributors, David Bowie: Finding Fame boasts a fair few scoops, including excerpts from the following, in no particular order… Cut scenes from backstage at Hammersmith Odeon, 1973 Audio from Glastonbury, 1971 The Hype at The Roundhouse, 1970 My Death on Russell Harty Plus Pop, 1973 Plus lots of audio teaser snippets of various demos and unreleased tracks. Sadly, the previously mentioned television debut of Starman on Lift Off with Ayshea in 1972, didn’t materialise in time for Wednesday’s screening. It was pointed out that the low quality, black and white footage might not even make the final cut. But, no matter, there’s more than enough here to sate even the hungriest of rare Bowie seeker appetites. But, don’t take our word for it, here’s a line from the just published five-star review by James Hall in The Telegraph: “Above all else, this documentary is about an individual’s relentless impulse to create. It’s about never giving up. And in this sense I’d argue that it is the most fascinating of the three films.” David Bowie: Finding Fame is on BBC TWO on Saturday, 9th February, at 21:00. - #BowieTheFirstFiveYears #DavidBowieFindingFame
