Back when I was H. Rap Brown. .

(I always tell people that I was raised very differently and that my mentors and role models are far from the normal cannon of cliche liberal and conservative blackness. I don’t really move how the group moves and even when I do I get ushered to the sidelines because admittedly it doesn’t fit. I don’t fit. It’s funny that a lot of black folks of the time that they actually lived secretly and overtly feared Malcolm X and thought Martin Luther King Jr was soft, the now divine “I have a Dream” speech wasn’t even considered that impactful or important when it was given and somewhat brushed off. Malcom was considered by some to be too militant and Martin not militant enough, for change. People wanted gradual mediocrity. A safe middleman or middlewoman. They wanted warm water. Nothing happens in warm water. Nothing freezes and nothing boils over. Things just stay the same. They wait on crisis then act or activate but never when the water is warm and comfortable. That comfort tells them that nothing is wrong because if something was wrong I wouldn’t be comfortable. Or something like that.) They say H shot two black cops. H said he didn’t do it. Another dude said he shot those cops. The court said it didn’t matter.
